Best Wedding Venues in the Upper Florida Keys

When it comes to the Florida Keys as a wedding destination, Key West stands out as a world-renowned spot. However, the archipelago has much more to offer to those looking to get an authentic Southern Florida experience for their nuptials.

While countless more places could have taken a spot on this list, our top three best wedding venues are all located in Islamorada. Less than two hours from Everglades National Park, Biscayne National Park, and Key West, Islamorada offers great access to the must-see attractions of both South Florida and the Florida Keys for your wedding guests. It was hard to narrow it down to three spots, but these venues take the (wedding) cake for the best in the upper Keys.

CHEECA LODGE

Cheeca Lodge and Spa, located on the Eastern side of Upper Matecumbe Key in Islamorada, was founded in 1946 and features everything from a 214 room resort to over 4,600 square feet of indoor and outdoor venue spaces suitable for all types of ceremonies.

Although Islamorada is within a short drive of many awesome sights, the amenities of Cheeca Lodge might be too great for your wedding guests to leave. Cheeca is perfect for couples who want their wedding guests to have a complete vacation experience without ever having to leave the venue. Wedding guests can let loose with a full suite of amenities, including a 9-hole golf course designed by legend Jack Nicklaus, six courts for tennis, racquetball, and pickleball, three heated swimming pools, and a large private beach, to name a few.

POSTCARD INN

The Postcard Inn is a Matie Photography favorite, located on Upper Matecumbe Key. Here is a photo that Yeni captured during groom and bride's wedding that featured on their website:

The Postcard Inn has one of the best locations on the island and will provide the most amazing backdrop for your wedding! Delighting visitors with nostalgic beach vibes since 1951, the Postcard boasts over 15 acres of tropical foliage, with locations perfect for any photos that need to be taken before the ceremony. Home to the world-famous Tiki Bar, several reception areas, and a large dock with incredible lighting for cocktail hours create an ensemble that your guests will adore. They also have a great staff that is very hands-on, their food is fantastic, and they take care of the vendors, which is an underrated aspect of a perfect wedding. Having a venue be so service-oriented towards weddings is a huge help for everyone involved in the ceremony and reception. The Postcard Inn never ceases to provide top-notch service.

PIERRES

Located inside the Morada Bay Florida Keys bayside retreat, Pierre's Restaurant is gorgeous for ceremonies and receptions. The charming atmosphere inside an old plantation-style house just steps from the Atlantic Ocean has a beautiful dock that is great for taking bridal portraits and serves as a perfect backdrop for a romantic evening.

Pierre's pays homage to the rich multicultural heritage of South Florida with artifacts and furniture from worldwide. With two stories of richly furnished settings overlooking the beach, there are plenty of scenes to spice up a wedding event and the photos that come with it. The outdoor lounge areas are suitable for events large and small, and the oceanside views will captivate guests long after returning home.

While Morada Bay is not a resort, it is close to several locations that offer all-night accommodations. They also have a Rolodex of wedding vendors to help with any last-second needs for your event that may come up.

The Florida Keys have such a wealth of beautiful places to go that it does make it hard to choose the perfect wedding venue. That being said, it is hard to go wrong with any of these three locations for your special day. Take it from Yeni; she has been a lifelong Keys resident and knows all of the best spots to get hitched!

If you know you want to get married in the Florida Keys but aren't sure where, then hopefully this guide has been helpful to you. Matie Photography is happy to help you select your wedding venue if you are still looking for the perfect spot, but you have to be okay with our bias towards the best places for pictures!! Although something tells me that won't be a problem anyways...
